Prospects · The next step

What happens next.

Where a Prospects report leads, and how to go further.

Prospects is an initial scoping report, at a fraction of the cost of a full ecological survey. It is where you start: a way to picture the change and open a conversation before committing to the fuller work, a way to find out if committing to the fuller work is for you.

A full ecological survey and recovery plan is a serious undertaking, often fifteen to twenty thousand pounds. Prospects is not that, and it is not meant to be. It is an affordable first step: enough to see the opportunity clearly, and to decide whether it is worth going further, before committing to that kind of spend.

You choose Prospects to start a conversation: with your family, your neighbours, or with us. Start here, and the path forward becomes more clear.

Questions, answered

Is Prospects a full survey?

No. It is a first reading, made by real ecologists from a single site visit and the best available data, drawn from satellite imagery, LiDAR, Government reports and the images we gather on the visit. It is honest about what it can and cannot see. The fuller survey and plan come later, if you decide to go further.

What does it cost?

A Prospects report costs £3,750.00 + VAT. This includes a site visit, an initial consult and a full debrief with Restore once the report is complete.

The idea behind Prospects is that it is written as much with the landowner in mind as the land. We want to understand your position, what the land means to you, and the role your family plays in deciding land use in the years to come. You may decide Restore's vision is not for you, and we aim to give you all the information you need to understand how and why that might be. This report should have as much value for someone who chooses a different path as it does for someone who decides to work with Restore long term.

Often, there is more than one way to bring nature back. Where there is more than one possible way for the land to go, we will tell you, and we will explain why we would choose the option we have marked as the Restore choice. Restore works across many natural capital types, not just one, and we use the financing that underpins the best choice for nature and for the connected ecological value of the land as a whole.

What happens if I want to go further, and what comes after a Prospects report?

After a Prospects report, we talk it through. The real work begins with a proper baseline, then a delivery plan, then the recovery itself, with monitoring as the land changes. The initial work can be funded by you, or by an outside funder who carries the upfront cost for a share of the return. We walk you through all the options, and build a plan bespoke to your needs.

Whose work is this?

It is Restore's. You are seeing it early, on groundtruth.digital, the private space where we test what we build. Restore works with landowners to design, fund and deliver ecological recovery across the UK. For more on Restore and our work, visit restoredland.com.
